The Michelin Guide's review
Carved by glaciers more than 15,000 years ago, the rocky sandstone and trap rock ridge known as the Sleeping Giant resembles a colossal man lying on his back. The park is threaded by 30mi of trails, including the popular Tower Path (1.6mi round-trip), which leads to Mt. Carmel, the highest point in the park. From a stone observation tower here stretch viewsaa of New Haven, Long Island Sound and the Connecticut hills.
