Celtic Museum in Hallein
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The Keltenmuseum, in a building (1654) formerly used for processing salt - a commodity that brought wealth to the region - houses artefacts found in the celtic village of Dürrnberg and major digs (dating from around 600 B.C.). On the 2nd floor are documents on the history of salt. In the princes' rooms, 73 oil paintings by Werkstötter from the 18C help you to better picture the extraction and production of salt at the time of the prince-archbishops.
