The Michelin Guide's review
Bordered by City Hall at one end and St. Paul's Anglican Church, the oldest Protestant church of Canada (1750), at the other, this pleasant square has been the centre of Halifax since its founding. Here the militia mustered, the town crier proclaimed the news, and city dwellers hired sedan chairs. Today lined with benches shaded by trees, in summertime Grand Parade square is frequently the site of lunchtime entertainment.
