The Michelin Guide's review
A masterpiece of Korean Buddhist architecture and UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bulguk-sa is testament to the skills of local craftsmen and the religious fervour of the Silla period. Founded in 535, its present appearance dates from the 8C, and the partial reconstruction carried out in the 1970s is a real success. Built in accordance with the Lotus Sutra, its aim was to recreate the Buddhist ideal on earth, an eternal palace for Buddha. It is one of the most visited temples in the country.
