The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The building, begun in 1558, has Italian, French and German-style features. The castle's crowning glory is the banquet hall on the first floor. It is decorated with a frieze of roe deer (1571) and an equally remarkable coffered ceiling (1620), with stucco relief and real stag antlers protruding. The castle is home to part of the Schwerin State Museum.
