The Ernst-Barlach Stiftung foundation pays tribute to the memory of the great artist in three different places in Güstrow. The late-Gothic St Gertrude chapel is home to his religious sculptures, while the Atelierhaus am Heidburg, the house he used as a studio, has an exhibition of his studio models. In 1998, the third site was the first museum to be built in one of the new states of former East Germany.
