The Michelin Guide's review
The sacristy of Guadalupe's monasterio dates from the 17C. The colours and harmonious blend of Classical style architecture and Baroque ornamentation set off the well-known series of paintings by Zurbarán (Spanish artist who worked primarily in Seville, 1598-1664). The 11 canvases, painted in a serene yet forceful style between 1638 and 1647, are of the Hieronymite monks and scenes from the Life of St Jerome, including The Temptation in which he is shown resisting beautiful lady musicians. In the antechamber are works by Carreño de Miranda.
