The Michelin Guide's review
With the launching of the world's first nuclear-powered vessel, the USS Nautilus, in 1954, submarine technology entered the atomic age. The Nautilus established new records for speed, distance and underwater endurance, and in 1958 it became the first submarine to reach the North Pole. It was decommissioned in 1980. On the submarine you can visit, among others, the torpedo and control rooms, while the museum displays an array of objects and documents on the history of underwater navigation.
