The Michelin Guide's review
In the centre of this square stands the monument (1892) dedicated to the agreement of Santa Fe, a work by Mariano Benlliure, which depicts Christopher Columbus submitting his plans to the Queen. On the 17 April 1492, in the neighbouring village of Santa Fe, the Catholic Monarchs and Christopher Columbus signed their famous agreements. Columbus received the title and privileges of Admiral, Viceroy and Governor General of the lands discovered.
