Surrounded by the city's most remarkable houses, with their characteristic front stoops still intact, this square, which is simply formed by a widening of Long Lane (Ulica Długa), is the real heart of the city. These splendid Patrician houses were patiently restored after the war. In the northwestern corner of the square, Neptune's Fountain, with a bronze statue created in 1615 by Peter Hussen, dates from the 17C. Behind Neptune is the sumptuous arcaded façade of the Artus Court.
