Galway City Museum
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Set in a contemporary building, this museum surveys the mouth of the River Corrib. Inside, the collections chart the history of the region, from the first hunter-gatherers to the revolutionary period (1913-1923), including the arrival of the Anglo-Normans and the manufacture of curragh (boats). A 9m-Galway hooker is displayed in the atrium. The top floor of the museum overlooks Claddagh, from the other side of the bridge.
