Groote Kerk
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This Dutch church was built in the late 18C on the site of a Portuguese Capuchin convent. Light enters through tall windows to reveal an unadorned interior and all the sobriety of the Reformed churches. At the top of the left-hand wall is the coat of arms of Commander Abraham Samlandt with, above it, a representation of his shirt and the skull and hourglass, alluding to the vanity of existence.
