Here, the most diverse species from North America, Australia, New Zealand, China and South Africa mingle. The Japanese larches shelter under their shade all the varieties of hibiscus, azaleas, camellias, hydrangeas and tropical flowers and plants; the paths are lined with majestic royal palms. There is also a collection of plants endemic to the Azores (borage, picconia, laurel, pine), some of which are veritable living fossils.
