The Michelin Guide's review
Built in 1910, this theatre is a precious vestige of the early-20C city, strongly influenced by the French Belle Epoque. It is laid out in two parts that flank an interior court: on one side stands a neo-Classical façade housing the hall, the ticket offices and foyer; on the other the auditorium, an iron and glass construction of Art Nouveau inspiration that was designed in Scotland. The courtyard leads to a garden, planned by Burle Marx in 1970 and planted solely with Brazilian species.
