The Michelin Guide's review
On the right bank of the River Creuse, northwest of the village of the same name, the Abbaye de Fontgombault fits perfectly into the Berry landscape. This pretty abbey is all that remains of a once powerful monastic community, whose abbots contributed to the development of fish farming in Brenne. It has a remarkable Romanesque church, with a majestic chancel surrounded by an elegant triforium with twinned columns.
