The Michelin Guide's review
Revered by the Catalans, the Canigou was long held to be the highest peak in the Pyrenees. It can be seen from the peaks of the Corbières, Conflent, Cerdagne, the Perpignan plain and even the beaches of Roussillon! At an altitude of 2 784m, it commands a stunning view of Roussillon, the Mediterranean coast, Catalonia and the successive mountain chains of the Eastern Pyrenees, of which it may be said to have become the emblem. A cross and a ruined stone hut stand on its summit.
