The Michelin Guide's review
Aptly named by Tom Wilson in 1882, this beautiful emerald-coloured lake, which owes its colour to glacial sediment, lies at the foot of the President Range. The picturesque site is depicted by Mt. Stephen towering above the river to the northeast and the Van Horne Range in the west. The road ends at the lake, but a scenic trail has been laid out around the water's edge. Emerald Lake Lodge is admirably situated at the southeastern end of the lake with Mt. Burgess in the background.
