The walk up the west coast of Grindstone Island - or Île du Cap-aux-Meules - from Chemin de la Belle-Anse to Cap au Trou (heading north) is a great opportunity to see the Belle-Anse cliffs, the Magdalen Islands' most spectacular formations. The sea relentlessly thrashes the sandstone cliffs, cracking the rock and shaping capes. In places, the vaults of the arches have collapsed, leaving only columns to stand up to the neverending assault of the waves... Exercise caution here!
