The Michelin Guide's review
Wanting to get closer to Sheikh Salim Chisti, the Sufi saint whom he worshipped, Emperor Akbar founded a new city on the site of Sikri in 1575. The "Friday mosque" houses the saint's white marble mausoleum, which is accessed via the Sublime Gate, the monumental entrance which celebrates the victory against the sultan of Gujarat. Other mausoleums, including that of the saint's nephew, are dotted around the courtyard. On the west side, admire the pishtaq, the central doorway to the prayer hall.
