The Michelin Guide's review
Bush pilots fly visitors to this sprawling national park extending across an area of 33 000km²/12 741sq mi. In the Brooks Range, hiking and canoeing enthusiasts won't find any marked trails, equipment or information offices and will be reliant upon their own resources. If you book well in advance, however, you can explore the area with a local guide: begin either in the Inupiat Eskimo village of Anaktuvuk Pass or in the century-old trading post of Bettles.
