The Michelin Guide's review
The Palace of the Dukes of Cadaval, whose façade was redone in the 17C, was gifted by King João I in 1390 to his counsellor Martim Alfonso de Melo, alcaide of Evora. Kings João III and João V resided there. One of the two towers was part of the medieval city walls. Inside, as classical music plays in the background, visitors can see rooms decorated with antique furniture, paintings (17C and 18C), sheet music and trunks. A huge fireplace stands in what used to be the kitchen.
