The Michelin Guide's review
Begun in 1578, this brick and stone residence was one of Louis-Philippe's favourite homes. Viollet-le-Duc redecorated the house in 1874-79 for the Count of Paris, the king's grandson. Today it is home to the town hall and the Louis-Philippe Museum. The latter charts the history of the estate through collections of furniture, tableware and paintings. Highlights include the royal family's apartments, the famous Galerie des Guise and the park planted with rhododendrons and conifers.
