This magnificent landscape boasts craggy mountains, glaciated valleys, perpetual snowfields, small lakes and vast alpine tundra that covers one-third of its 415sq mi. It features more than 100 mountains of 11,000ft or higher, reaching its apex at 14,255ft Longs Peak, whose distinctive flat-topped summit dominates the park's southeast corner. The Beaver Meadows Visitor Center has park maps and information on ranger-led tours and lectures. From here, 10mi Bear Lake Road runs south, providing access to trailheads.
