Castle Park
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Nestling in a 26ha-park, two steps from the historic centre, the château d'Épinal graces the top of a sandstone hill jutting into the heart of the town. The current ruins belonged to a stone castle built in the late 12C to defend the Moselle Valley. Extended over time, it was destroyed in 1670 by order of Louis XIV. Attractions include the landscaped gardens, an unusual staircase-tower in the shape of a Chinese pagoda built between 1805 and 1808 and a mini zoo.
