The Michelin Guide's review
The inhospitable limestone plateau of The Burren to the northwest of Ennis is one of Ireland's most unusual and most compelling landscapes. It is depicted by vast expanses of pale grey stone and criss-crossed by stone walls with the occasional tuft of flowers, a circular fort, a colossal dolmen or an ancient abbey. It is best explored along Burren Way or Doolin Walk, in particular between Ballyvaughan and Ballinalackan.
