The Michelin Guide's review
This reserve, a narrow strip of marshy coastline, was created to provide a protected habitat for migratory species of birds and a peculiar kind of sand-loving Mediterranean vegetation. A path skirting the marshland leads to the so-called Torre Sveva (Swabian Tower) where the fish tanks that date back to the Greek period can be seen. You might even catch a glimpse of a black-winged stilt, a bird that has become a symbol of the region, with its white body, black wings and long red legs.
