The Michelin Guide's review
The imperial complex of Beyazit II stands on the banks of the Tunca river. Completed in 1488, it is the largest in Edirne as well as being the most complete. For the mosque, adorned with four elegant minarets, the architect adopted an inverted T-shaped plan. The building is preceded by the usual ablutions courtyard. The square-shaped prayer hall, is crowned by a single cupola with a diameter of 20m which rests directly on the walls. On the various sides of the mosque note the hospice (which once housed dervishes and the poor), the school of medicine, the hospital and the asylum.
