The Michelin Guide's review
Built on a hillock, Craigmillar Castle was the scene of the darkest hours of the Stuarts. The L-shaped castle (14C), connected to constructions dating from the 15C (east) and the 16C and 17C (west), looms imposingly over two rows of curtains. The exterior wall demarcates a façade courtyard and gardens. Go to the top to take in the view over the whole complex.
