Seth Arjundas Goenka Haveli Museum
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Perched on an esplanade, the Seth Arjundas Goenka Haveli Museum is the only haveli in the town open to the public. In the museum's rooms, mannequins depict scenes from everyday life in the past (the accountant and his assistants, women in the kitchen surrounded by period furniture etc). The two courtyards are decorated with frescoes that were superbly restored in 2006. Note the magnificent front door, the ingenious system of rope-operated fans, and the bronze doors encrusted with fragments of ivory.
