Three man-made archipelagos designed to resemble a palm tree from a bird's eye view. Of the original project, Palm Jumeirah, opposite Dubai Marina, is the smallest; the outer Palm Jebel Ali, is slowly being built; and Palm Deira, off the coast of the old town, has not yet risen from the water.
