Amerind Foundation Museum
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
A nonprofit archaeology institute, Amerind is devoted to studying native cultures from Alaska to Patagonia. Exhibits include beadwork, costumes, pottery, basketry, ritual masks, weapons, children's toys and clothing, and cover everything from Cree snowshoe-making tools to the finest 19C Navajo weavings. Its Spanish Colonial Revival-style buildings (1931-59, H.M. Starkweather) blend dramatically with the boulder-strewn landscape of Texas Canyon.
