The Michelin Guide's review
The romantic gardens and Classical buildings of this estate looking down over the ocean are the work of Frederick Hervey, Bishop of Derry and Count of Bristol in the late 18C. Because the house was burnt down in 1851, little of its bygone grandeur remains, but Bishop's Gate does hint at it, nevertheless. The Earl Bishop, an antiques enthusiast, had Lion's Gate built, close to a walled garden.
