The Michelin Guide's review
The smallest of the Aran Islands is the closest to the County Clare coast. Most of the houses stand along the northern coastline; the rest of the island, although wild, has a less austere landscape, which you can explore by taking the Inisheer Way walking path. Inisheer is made up of dunes, rugged coasts and small fields and in spring is covered with daffodils, one of its main resources. The island is also home to such gems as Teampall Chaomhain, or St Kevin's Church, a remarkable half-buried chapel dating from the 10C.
