The Michelin Guide's review
This fortress was the stronghold of the O'Donnells. Visitors can see a model of the original castle, which no longer exists; it was destroyed by the fierce Irishman to prevent it from falling into enemy hands. The present castle is the work of Sir Basil Brooke (his coat of arms features on the imposing fireplace). A second model illustrates the differences between the two buildings.
