The Michelin Guide's review
Extending 8km from east to west and 18km from north to south, Don Khong is the largest island in the Si Phan Don archipelago ("the 4 000 islands"), but the least visited. Its main town, Muang Khong, located on the south-east coast, is home to most of its hotels and services, administrative offices, shops, chemists etc. A few villages have developed on the periphery of the island, along the Mekong. A bicycle tour around the interior of the island provides an insight into rural life of this island dedicated to rice cultivation.
