The Michelin Guide's review
Nowadays, shops and bistros encircle this once secluded temple (c 330 BC), whose oracle attracted crowds keen to receive prophecies. The temple was built by the order of Alexander the Great. The columns that remain give an indication of its huge size, and although the building has deteriorated over the centuries, its remains highlight perfectly the organisation of an oracle temple and enable visitors to follow the different stages of the rituals step by step. The star exhibit on the site is a marble Medusa head, a favourite subject for photographers.
