Despite being rebuilt on various occasions, this square has retained its old character. It is lined by the town hall and Municipal Museum. The former is housed in a former cloth hall that was rebuilt in the Flemish Renaissance style after 1945; its 14C square belfry has corner turrets. The Municipal Museum took over the former butchers' hall (1460), to present collections relating to the town's archaeology and history.
