The Michelin Guide's review
This temple dedicated to the goddess Hathor stands in one of the last hubs of Ancient Egyptian civilisation. It is part of a site that also encompasses the Sacred Lake, planted with palm trees, and the Temple of Isis. The construction of the temple dates back to Greco-Roman times, under the reigns of Ptolemy XII and Ptolemy XIII. The layout follows the usual codes: pronaos, hypostyle hall, offering chamber, chapels and crypts. Note in particular the decoration of the crypts (Dendera is the only site with decorated crypts) and the ceiling of the hypostyle hall.
