Renard Slag Heap
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The conical, 76m-high Terril Renard presides over Denain. This slag heap is the only visible trace of the Anzin Mine pit: the same mines that none other than Émile Zola went down in 1884, while gathering material in the region with a view to writing his novel Germinal.
