The Michelin Guide's review
Until the end of the 1980s, Hauz Khas Village was a village with buffalos and charpoy (rope beds), some of which still exist today, dotted among the residential districts of the city. The village was then discovered by designers, who made it a fashionable centre of ethnic chic. Sultan Ala ud-Din Khilji dug out a water reservoir (hauz) here in the early 14C in order to supply the new town of Siri with water. Tombs dating from the late 14C can be seen on the edge of the village; that of Sultan Feroz Shah Tughluq is of particular interest.
