The Michelin Guide's review
You enter the huge Mughal Garden (chahar bagh), enclosed by walls and in the centre of which Humayun's tomb was built in 1565, as you would a blissful abode in the paradise of Allah. The monument strikes you immediately with its perfect proportions and the stark contrast between the red sandstone and the white marble, as well as the extraordinary transformation in architecture achieved since the construction of Isa Khan's tomb (at the entrance to the garden) a mere two decades earlier! Don't miss the tomb chamber, which is a masterpiece of simplicity and balance.
