St Mary's Church
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The oldest parts of St Mary's, formerly a church in a prospering monastery, may go back as far as the 8C. The church has remained profoundly Saxon, despite being rebuilt and enlarged several times. This can be seen in the splendid baptismal fonts. The sculptures include a Mary and Child, animal heads and an angel outside on the upper part.
