The Michelin Guide's review
A neo-Classical (1820) building provides the backdrop for this wide-reaching museum encompassing the Age of Enlightenment, featuring collections ranging from natural history (superb dioramas) to history, art and scientific techniques. In particular, it is home to a reproduction of a Roman villa, a wide array of altarpiece paintings from the Middle Ages, ivory sculptures, and a collection of Art Nouveau. An annexe is devoted to German expressionism and impressionism as well as contemporary art.
