The Michelin Guide's review
The baroque cathedral (1559) embodies Christianity's desire to assert its triumph over Incan beliefs. The interior of the basilica is a monument of elegance, whose gilt-work and art are beautifully enhanced by the dark stone. Composed of three elements, the Templo de la Sagrada Familia (18C), the basilica and the triumphal church compete to outdo each other in terms of ornamentation, while works by the Cuzco School add an Indian flavour.
