The Michelin Guide's review
The tolbooth belfry (1598) overlooks the wide market square with its fish-shaped weather vane, a reference to the time when smoked haddock was the town's main source of income. Behind the tolbooth is a small museum covering local history, architecture and activities. Kirk Wynd takes you by the circular dovecot from the 16C, all that remains of a priory. Finally, follow the Castle Walk, which leads around the vestiges of the former royal fortress.
