The Michelin Guide's review
Begun in 1056 and, miraculously, unscathed by the bombings of the Second World War, this magnificent cathedral is one of Normandy's most well-known Gothic gems. It has slender spires and its remarkable octagonal lantern tower stands 41m tall at the transept crossing. The guided tour of the upper levels takes in one of the façade towers, the loft over an aisle and the top of the lantern tower, from where you can enjoy the superb panorama of the coast.
