The Michelin Guide's review
This mammoth World War II aircraft carrier, berthed near the aquarium across the Harbor Bridge from downtown, was the most decorated carrier in US Navy history. Reported sunk four times, the ship was nicknamed "The Blue Ghost" both for its color and its resurrections. Today "The Lex," its main deck larger than three football fields, offers self-guided tours. Visitors spend hours weaving through corridors past captain's and enlisted men's quarters, the mess and sick bay, navigation and flag bridges. Numerous aircraft sit on the flight deck and hangar deck.
