Vía Blanca Beaches
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Northeast of Havana, skirting the coast from Cojímar, a string of beaches runs along the Vía Blanca. Beyond the mouth of the River Bacurano is Playa Tarará, lying in an inlet, then Playa el Mégano, an extension of the long Playa Santa María del Mar, fringed by coconut trees and hotels. These convivial beaches are an opportunity to take a dip alongside Cuban families. Further on, Playa Boca Ciega is where the gay community congregates; next in line is the very popular (but slightly dirty) Playa Guanabo.
