Convento de Celas
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This former Bernardine convent dates from the 12C and was modified four centuries later. The church, with its star-shaped vault, is of particular note. The sacristy is home to a 16C altarpiece by Jean de Rouen (16C) featuring two panels, one representing John the Evangelist, the other St Martin sharing his cloak. The Romanesque-style cloister from the 13C, boasting some Gothic features, is also adorned with attractive historiated capitals.
