The Michelin Guide's review
This National Park (40,000ha) encompasses the largest primary equatorial forest in Java. It is a sanctuary for the extremely rare Javan gibbon, the long-tailed macaque, and over 130 species of bird. Bristling with summits, including that of Mt Halimun (1,929m), this vast forested area plays an essential role in the climate and irrigation of the region. Between the Nirmala Tea Plantation and the waterfalls (Cikudapaeh, Mecan - both 7m high, and Piit - 25m), the park offers a wide range of activities.
